My name is Claudia Medina, I am blessed to be part of Miami Baptist School this year. I am the VPK-B lead teacher and Susana Vallecillo will be assisting me. We are very enthusiastic to start this new journey together. I was born in Bogota, Colombia. When I was twelve years old,my pa rents moved our family to Panama City, Panama. A few years later, God opened the doors for us to come to the US, where we have lived ever since.

I attended Florida International University and obtained my BA in Early Childhood Education (2007).  After I graduated, I started working in a Preschool where I learned about the Reggio Emilia Philosophy. A few years after that, I was blessed to have my own preschool where I gained administrative experience as the owner and director.

During the school year we have two major   urriculums for our VPK program, which primarily covers Bible, Language Arts, and Math. When it comes to Bible, this month we will be learning about God’s love and the respect we have for Him and for others. I believe the quality and quantity of  relationships between children and adults help children grow in all areas of development. As a teacher, I will use strategies such as exposing your child to a wide variety of educational opportunities that will encourage rational critical thinking skills, communication skills, self-expression skills, as well as the ability to problem solve on their own. Moreover, I believe with all my heart that everything I have accomplished comes from God and all the glory goes to him for everything that happens in the life of your child.

The scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths  straight.”

May God guide each and every one of us throughout this school year!
