Welcome back to school! There is a wonderful promise from the Bible that I meditate on at the beginning of new projects (like working with new students): “For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). That is my source of hope and joy when thinking about the great responsibility and opportunity that you have given me by entrusting me with the care of your little ones.

My name is Mrs. Cara Vera (Mrs. Cara) and I grew up in a quiet, pretty area of the Bronx. I have been married to a wonderful musician-composer for twenty-three years. We have five grown children, three of which are studying in universities! We also have a little Yorkie, Daisy. When I am not at the school, I may be found spending time with our family, puttering around the garden, or helping in church ministry.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with Florida endorsements in literacy, English as a Second Language (ESOL), special education (SPED), and am working toward a master’s degree. I am so grateful to be starting my ninth year at Miami Baptist School.

During my years here, I have worked with all of our age groups, but my best experience has been with our Kindergarteners. Using our rich curriculum from Bob Jones University, I have seen tremendous growth in our past kindergarteners.

Our current Kindergarten class has three boys and seven girls. Together, we will pray, play, explore, and support each other in the quests for a relationship with Christ and knowledge in the areas of Bible stories, literacy, science, math, history, art, music, and physical education. Since our philosophy of education is based on play, we will have time each day for humor and free play; some of the best learning happens in those moments!

Thank you for your trust and faith in placing your child in my class-in our school. Please join us in prayer and fellowship through our PTF so that we may support our children and grow together. We always welcome your thoughts and suggestions for improving our school and especially hope for you to come personally to volunteer in our events. See you all this Thursday evening at 7 PM for our Back to School Night. Blessings on you and your family.

Saved to serve,
Mrs. Cara Vera
